Mowbray: Enjoying life at the top
Tony Mowbray is hoping to celebrate two years in charge of West Brom with victory over Manchester United.
The Baggies travel to Old Trafford on Saturday looking to build on an impressive start to life back in the Premier League.
They currently sit just one point behind their weekend opponents in the table, with confidence flowing through the side in the wake of back-to-back victories.
Mowbray must take much of the praise for the manner in which the club have adapted to their new surroundings, but admits he is just happy to be cutting his teeth in the top flight.
Two years into his post at the Hawthorns, the former Hibernian boss is confident his side will prove to be more than a match for the reigning domestic and European champions this weekend.
"I came here knowing that within two years I had to get this team up to the Premier League," Mowbray told the Express and Star.
"I inherited what was, on paper, a strong squad of players that were in the Championship.
"They were talked about as a squad of Premier League players but ultimately they weren't because they got relegated.
"The idea was to come here and get back in the Premier League within two years. It would have been nice to do it in the first year but that wasn't to be.
"We have managed to achieve that one goal and I am just pleased that we are back and competing in the Premier League on my second anniversary of being here.
"The fact it's at Old Trafford is great. That highlights the fact that we are back in the Premier League because in many ways it is what the Premier League is all about.
"We strived for 46 games last season to get here so when these games come along you have to enjoy them and compete in them and I think we'll do that, for sure."
