Emmanuel Adebayor has told skysports.com Arsenal must vanquish Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night for their supporters and title aspirations.

The Gunners host their bitter North London rivals at Emirates Stadium wary of a rejuvenated Spurs outfit under new manager Harry Redknapp.

Redknapp, who was a shock appointment at White Hart Lane at the weekend, won his first game in charge against Bolton Wanderers on Sunday.

Arsenal, meanwhile, made it back-to-back Premier League wins as they overcame London foes West Ham United to ensure they remain fourth in the table.

Adebayor, who inspired his side's victory over the Hammers, is aware of the importance of taking three points versus Tottenham and has rallied his team-mates ahead of the encounter.

Have to win

"We want to be champions. This is the type of game we have to win. You don't have a right to make a mistake in this type of game," the 24-year-old told skysports.com at the Launch of FIFA 09 from EA SPORTS.

"We know it is going to be tough. The fans love these games. We have to give everything, we have to make them happy and we have to win. We just have to win."

Of his own personal form, Adebayor, who is currently on eight goals for the season after netting 30 last term, added: "I cannot say I am happy or unhappy with my form so far this season.

"I will be happy when this side is in first position. At the moment I am just trying to do my best and give 100 per cent.

"To win things I need to score goals. I need to help my team to win. I need to work. I think I am doing that quite well at the moment."
