Blackburn Rovers midfielder Vince Grella has been ruled out for four weeks with a hamstring injury.

Grella suffered the injury in Sunday's 2-0 defeat at home to Chelsea and was forced off just before half-time.

Tests on the problem have now shown the extent of the injury, meaning Grella will miss the next month for Rovers.

The Australia international has endured a stop-start beginning to his career at Ewood Park after his arrival from Torino in August.

After making his debut against West Ham United, Grella did not make his next appearance until two months later due to a nagging calf complaint.

This latest setback will rule Grella out of Wednesday's Carling Cup fourth-round tie against Premier League rivals Sunderland.

He could also sit out Rovers' next five top-flight matches, in addition to Australia's 2010 World Cup qualifier with Bahrain next week.
