Terry: Withdrawn against West Brom

John Terry has revealed that he is set to undergo a scan on a foot injury sustained against West Brom on Saturday.

The Chelsea skipper suffered the setback during the second half of the Blues' comprehensive 3-0 win at the Hawthorns.

He was forced to withdraw from the action towards the end of the contest and looked to be in some pain as he made his way to the sidelines.

He has, however, been included in Fabio Capello's England squad for a friendly with Germany on Wednesday, suggesting the problem is not as bad as first feared.

"I got shoved when in the air and landed awkwardly. It felt like a sharp pain in the bottom of my foot which is throbbing at the moment," Terry said.

"But I will have a scan tomorrow (Sunday) and hopefully it will give me the all clear. I am desperate to go away with England for the game with Germany. I have not been ruled out.

"I hope the scan gives me the all clear to go away. With me having to pull out of the last squad, I am desperate to play. As England captain, I want to be there."

Answers

Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari could offer no assurances that his captain will be ready for international action, but will have no complaints if Terry makes the trip to Berlin.

"I am not the person to give the answer regarding John Terry but the doctor said tomorrow he will go to the hospital and have a scan," said the Brazilian.

"If he is fit, he will play out of respect for the national team. If he is not fit, Capello will have a look and not play him. If he is in good condition, he needs to play."

Meanwhile, Scolari was full of praise for Nicolas Anelka after the Frenchman took his Premier League goal tally for the season to 12 with a well-taken brace against the Baggies.

Jose Bosingwa was also on target against Tony Mowbray's men, helping Chelsea to equal Tottenham's 47-year-old record of securing 10 successive away wins in the top-flight.

Confidence

He said: "Anelka is happy because he has more confidence. The players, the fans believe more in Anelka than before. They give him more chance to score goals.

"Anelka is a very good player, has good skill, good delivery, good shots. In all the games now he is scoring one or two goals. It is fantastic for us.

"As for the away record, I think my players know about this. They are more happy and they want to try to extend more times this record.

"It is a record not for me. It is for Chelsea. Seven of the wins came when I am coach and three before. For our players, it is very good.

"But we have lost many points at home and we need to recover these points away."
