David Bentley refuses to accept that his bubbly personality is the reason behind his recent England snub.

The Tottenham winger has not featured for his country since appearing in a friendly against Czech Republic back in August.

Reports have suggested that his antics alongside Fulham's Jimmy Bullard ahead of crunch World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Croatia are to blame for his omission from resulting squads.

However, the larger-than-life 24-year-old is not about to change his ways and is determined to force his way back into Fabio Capello's thoughts by performing to a high standard for Spurs.

"Jimmy and me? I have no comment on that except to say that my personality is my personality and that some people like it and others don't," Bentley told the News of the World.

Serious

"I take my football seriously but enjoy myself at the same time.

"I wasn't made aware that I p****d Capello off. It didn't feel like it and the last thing he said to me was after the Arsenal game when he came over to say 'well done and good luck'.

"That's football. Sometimes you are up, other times down. Look, Jimmy was recalled for the last England game (against Germany).

"I want to be involved again, too - and if I am 'happy days'. But if not, I'll just get on with my life.

"Whatever, I'm still the same person."
