Goal-scorer Jermain Defoe was delighted with Portsmouth's 3-2 win over Blackburn on Sunday to give new boss Tony Adams his first home victory.

All the goals came in a dramatic second half, with Peter Crouch and Defoe giving Pompey a two-goal lead before Blackburn drew level via Matt Derbyshire and Tugay.

But Pompey had the last laugh as substitute Sean Davis got the winner to seal the three points.

Defoe told Sky Sports: "I thought we played really well, great energy again and everyone is buzzing at the minute, everyone is confident.

"(A) massive three points for us today, we just want to kick on now."

Defoe added that he could not believe it when Blackburn drew level.

Great spirit

"I was gutted but great spirit from everyone, kept on going, kept on passing the ball really well and when Sean came on and scored with a nice finish I was delighted," said Defoe, who added: "It was important obviously for the manager as well. Things we have done in training - we have done a lot of work in training, training is really good.

"Everyone is delighted with the three points today."

He added the team had taken a lot of positives from the draw with AC Milan in midweek.

"I think it showed today in the second half that everyone is confident. It was important to get the win today - everyone is delighted."
