Bolton manager Gary Megson believes his side are now beginning to show people they are not just a route one team.

Bolton have recorded a surprising 12 points from a maximum of 15 in their last five games taking them up to ninth in the table.

Such form has silenced the critics and even some Bolton supporters who were out to get Megson earlier in the season.

Since they were promoted under former manager Sam Alladyce the Trotters have been labelled a long-ball side but 10 goals in five games and seven in the last two are getting fans to acknowledge the football played by Megson's side.

Change

Bolton knocked four in at the Stadium of Light against Sunderland on Saturday and now sit just six points behind fourth-placed Arsenal.

On the other hand Megson's men are still cautiously looking over their shoulders as they are still just five points from the relegation zone but Megson believes people's perceptions of the club may be changing.

Megson told the Bolton News: "We have always been honest and organised.

"We are trying to change things a little bit and people are starting to realise that we do put our foot on the ball and try to look for gaps.

"There needs to be a change. We can play 4-4-2, we can try different formations with the players I have got and because of that, they are a great bunch to work with."
