Adams: Delighted with reaction
Portsmouth boss Tony Adams is delighted his players are pushing for new contracts at the club.
Several are out of contract in the summer and there is speculation that Adams could make changes as he looks to put his own stamp on the club after taking over from Harry Redknapp.
But Adams is relaxed about the issue, believing 'contracts look after themselves', and he is delighted with the positive reaction his players have given him since taking over.
He was making his comments as Portsmouth prepared to fly out to Germany for Thursday's Uefa Cup clash with Wolfsburg.
Asked if he is starting to have thoughts about which players he wants to keep, he told Sky Sports News: "I'm going to do it in the summer probably.
"I'm looking at them all and its great that I've got that reaction - it's the reaction that I want, everybody earning contracts, wanting to play for Portsmouth.
"If any of them don't then I'll shake their hands but I've said that from the very start. But that's the reaction I wanted and they've given me it and I can't fault any player at the club, they've all been fantastic."
He said he is just getting on with the games and the performances at present and he believes contracts will take care of themselves.
He added: "Just work on your own game, try and do the best which you possibly can and the contracts look after themselves."
Asked if he was having thoughts on who he might bring into the club in January, he replied: "No I think I'll let the media and that world - my son plays football manager and I let him do all the games.
"I stick in reality - I've got a very good recruitment set-up and they are advising me very well. I am going to make the call on a few players that I've got here and elsewhere.
"So we're professional, I think recruitment in the last couple of years has gone up and has been very good at this club, I would like to continue that."
Midfielder Sean Davis is among those who are out of contract at the end of the season and the 29-year-old hopes to win a new deal from Adams.
He told Sky Sports News: "It is well known that I am out of contract at the end of the season so all I can keep doing is working hard and hopefully get offered a new contract here."
Asked if that was the plan, he replied: "For sure yes, obviously it would be ideal if I could sign for Portsmouth but we will just have to wait and see."
He added he had not spoken to Adams about the issue.
"I think the last contact I had was about a year-and-a-half ago about my contract and I haven't heard anything since so all I can do is work hard and try and prove I'm worth a new contract," he said.
