Hull City boss Phil Brown has taken a swipe at the transfer window claiming players are being priced out of a move to the KC Stadium.

"I'm not in favour of these transfer windows at all. The agents and sellers have created a really false market."
Phil Brown Quotes of the week

Brown, who has yet to make a signing in spite of admitting he needs to strengthen his squad, has branded the transfer window "a farce".

The Tigers boss has indicated he would like to make four or five possible new signings, with adding firepower up front a priority. West Ham striker Luis Boa Morte is the latest to be linked with a move to Hull.

But Brown feels that although the system provides an "opportunity" to bring in new faces, its negatives far outweigh any positives.

"It is an opportunity, of course it is, but also it's a cornered market that's in favour of the seller" Brown told the Hull Daily Mail.

"We have valuations of players and are then valued out of the market by the player's demands or fee.

"I'm not in favour of these transfer windows at all. The agents and sellers have created a really false market.

"We'll be looking to tweak the team with getting in one or two in the window this time but we plan long-term and it seems to me that the window is all about short-term fixes.

"And the fact there is a countdown to it all, day by day, makes it a complete farce; the game suffers because of the excitement of it all."

While struggling to bring new faces to the KC Stadium, veteran striker Dean Windass is set to leave with his agent saying he expects to have secured a move within a week.

Phil Smith, Windass' agent, says they are hoping to secure a move to a club at Championship level with a number of teams expressing their interest.
