Sporting Lisbon have no intention of selling Miguel Veloso during the January transfer window.

The Portugal international has been linked with Manchester City and Arsenal in recent weeks, while Manchester United are known to be long-time admirers of the 22-year-old.

The midfielder is widely regarded as one of Europe's hottest properties, but Sporting have warned any potential suitors not to waste their time by lodging an approach.

"The club is not interested in opening any negotiations at this moment," a club spokesman told skysports.com.

Reports suggest the player has an agreement with Sporting that will see him remain at the club until at least the summer.

His future at that point remains unclear, with a €20million (£18m) expected to be enough to lure him away from Estadio Jose Alvalade.
