Neville: New deal
Gary Neville has agreed a new contract with Manchester United that will keep him at Old Trafford until June 2010.
The veteran right-back has been part of the Red Devils' first-team for the past 17 years after making his debut against Torpedo Moscow in 1992.
Neville was forced to battle his way back to full fitness after missing almost the entire 2007/08 season following a serious ankle injury.
The 34-year-old club captain may not be able to play in every match for the Premier League and European champions but he remains an integral member of their record-breaking defence, which has now kept 14 successive top-flight clean sheets.
Neville told the club's official website: "Manchester United is the only club I have ever wanted to play for so I am delighted to have signed for another year."
The new contract for the England international comes just a week after Ryan Giggs agreed his own one-year extension, with Sir Alex Ferguson delighted to reward such committed members of his squad.
"Gary, Ryan and Paul (Scholes) are the spirit of Manchester United and so we are delighted that Gary has signed for another year," the Scot said.
"Gary is a true professional and I admire how he has overcome an injury which kept him out for over a year, returning as good as ever. He deserves this new contract and we are very happy to have him here."

Gary Neville is such a good fullback. We haven¿t seen much of him recently, though , because of the injury but he has made an amazing comeback and trying it at his age for another year convinces me that he deserves this new contract, i wish him and Manchester united the best for the rest of his future career.

I have to say this is what he deserves he is a model pro along with Scholesy and giggsy i believe next season should be their last and retire at the top and let the youngsters progress through just as they did some 17 years ago.

Neville is a good player. However I think its time he stood down as club captain as he is not able to play every game and give the armband to rio,to give the club some consistency.

You either love him or hate him.... Personally, I love him, what a great servant to the club and another true role model for the young ones. No slacking with Neville, Scholes and Giggsy about!!

Well done Good old Gary! Its good to see a football club who rewards long standing loyal players with contract extensions even in their twilight years, I think he still has alot to offer but obviously he needs loads a rest to, great to see Neville/Scholes and Giggs still going, these three footballing legends are the backbone of this team, they are the reason the youth coming through are playing the way they are now because they are learning so much from the best, watching utd at the moment is sometimes breathtaking, i hate saying this but i feel i have to cause i have the gut feelings but i actually do think Utd are going to win the lot!!!
