Fulham forward Diomansy Kamara was delighted with his strike against Bolton after a season of frustration.

The 28-year-old has made six substitute appearances since returning from a serious knee injury which has kept him sidelined for the entire campaign.

Cottagers boss Roy Hodgson has been cautious with the Senegal international but the striker appears to be closing in on full fitness after claiming his first goal of the season against Wanderers at the Reebok on Saturday.

The goal ensured that Hodgson's men took maximum points for the first time on their travels in the league this season as they secured a 3-1 win.

"I was so happy to score because it has not been easy coming back and getting fit from such an injury," Kamara told the London Evening Standard.

"But I worked hard and the Fulham physios have been so good to me. Now I'm just enjoying being out there again."

Survival

Consecutive league defeats at home to Hull City and Blackburn had seemed to have put an end to Fulham's hopes of qualifying for Europe next season.

But with the weekend win lifting them to ninth they now find themselves just two points behind West Ham in seventh.

But Kamara insists the club should only be concentrating on survival with the club only eight points from the drop zone.

"At the moment we must make sure we are safe," he added.

"We cannot afford to think about anything else. The Bolton game was massive for us after losing against Hull and Blackburn.

"It was out first away win but you have to remember our next two games are against Manchester United and Liverpool.

"If we had gone into those games after three defeats it might have been bad for us."
