Chairman Peter Ridsdale has dismissed suggestions Cardiff City are not prepared to offer highly-rated Joe Ledley an improved contract.

The 22-year-old Wales international, who is being linked with a move to Everton, has just 12 months to run on his existing Bluebirds contract.

Ledley is quoted in the Western Mail as saying "It's down to the football club to come and offer me a contract", but Ridsdale insists Cardiff are ready and willing to discuss a favourable contract.

The former Leeds supremo is keen to reward Ledley with improved terms along with a get-out clause should a Premier League club come knocking for his signature.

Puzzled

"We're a bit puzzled by Joe's attitude," explained Ridsdale in The Sun.

"We're happy to give him a new deal, which would include a pay rise and a get-out clause should a Premier League club come in for him.

"He would be in a win-win situation."
