Ferguson: Furious with referee
Sir Alex Ferguson has hit out at referee Alan Wiley, accusing the Staffordshire official of "not being fit enough" to do his job.
Wiley, the fourth official for last month's controversial Manchester derby, was in charge at Old Trafford on Saturday as an injury-time own-goal from Anton Ferdinand salvaged United a point against Sunderland in a 2-2 draw.
Ferguson claimed Wiley had not played the correct amount of added time because he had failed to add on an additional minute to the four already signalled once United scored.
"I was disappointed with the referee," said Ferguson.
"He didn't add on any time for the goal. He played four minutes and two seconds.
"He was also walking up the pitch for the second goal needing a rest. He was not fit enough for a game of that standard.
"The pace of the game demanded a referee who was fit. He was not fit. It is an indictment of our game.
"You see referees abroad who are as fit as butcher's dogs. We have some who are fit. He wasn't fit.
"He was taking 30 seconds to book a player. He was needing a rest. It was ridiculous."
Ferguson conceded his side did not play well and he was not happy with Sunderland's second goal when Kenwyne Jones outjumped Ben Foster to head home.
"It was a soft goal to lose," added Ferguson.
"Our passing was very poor in the first half. In the end we needed to show some great qualities to get something out of the game on a day when we played really badly."

second half 6 substitutions = 3 mins + 2 goals which is another 30sec to a minute so lets say 1 min plus any valid stoppage time (none ??) , tbh I fail to see how it was only 4 minutes Then when the goal is scored, there is supposed to additional time added , as they don't play to 30 secs, then that is another minute. He didn't even see when Anderson was fouled in the box, coz he was too far away, instead gave it as a foul against him... but still that was one of the worst performances I have seen of United for a long time, couldn't even pass the ball to a team member... We didn't deserve a point, although we didn't give up the chase for it..

I would like 2 know how come fergie wasnt send 2 the stands after the slagging off he was giving the 4th official.Any other manager would have been sent off.

Funny, Wiley seemed fit enough to run for 95 plus minutes against Man City. I cant understand how there was 4 minutes of stoppage time anyway, even 3 was generous.

To Allan Wright - thats a shocking comment, Kenwyn Jones didnt lead in with his arm the contact was the coming together of two players, after he headed the ball - he easily beat Foster, who should have won the ball if had anything about him....

sir alex is correct about the extra time, if 4 minutes are added then 4 minstes should be played, and is 30 seconds are taken up celebrating a goal then they should be played after the restart. remember, its a minimun 4 minues extra time. nobody is asking to keep playing until the winning goal is scored as some liverpool fan childishly pointed out. if sir alex complained to the fa and didnt say it in the media it wouldnt have been addressed, now it is in the spotlight they are under pressure to explain themselves ad rightly so, having an unfit ref for a game in the best league in the world is outragious. and remember, alex didnt just bame the ref fo the draw, he admtted the team didnt perform as he expects them too, Sir Alex is a legend in english football, every club in the world would love to have him in control of there team.

The referee had an absolute shocker, fergie is spot on about him taking 30 seconds to book a player, Alan Wiley shouldnt ref again, hes past it. Sunderland didnt play well, we were just absolutely terrible, Rooney had one of the worst games ive ever seen him play.

They shouldn't even have had 4 minutes extra time in the first place, a disgrace! They get all the decisions so i can't see why he's complaining!

I think we were lucky to get a point from the game...it was a poor display, especially in the first half. My only gripe with the ref was Sunderlands second goal ....how often have you seen players penalised for challenges on the keeper ,especially in the air . The linesman view seems to show Kenwyn Jones leading with his arm but nothing given. My point here is "swings and roundabouts" I quite accept that you win some and lose some ,maybe it will go some way to counter all these "the big teams get everything in their favour"

last week he was saying that he doesn't bother trying to work out injury time anymore. now he is moaning that united couldn't get another injury time winner. i hope the FA do something about this annoying man. he shouldn't be a Sir! would he moan to the Queen?

Sir (I think I am god Ferguson) is never happy unless he gets all his own way. The soft F.A. usually gives him it on most occasions

SAF should feel ashamed of such comments. He is clearly trying to divert the attention from poor performance from our team and playing mind games in the wake of Fergie time in Man City game. He knows perfectly clear that fourth was unfair, so these comments are an attempt to balance the issue. His touchline whine and actions during Anderson foul on touchbox, deserved nothing less that dismissal. When you compare that to Wenger kicking a bottle and the way he was treated in OT (yet still acting with class of gentleman), it is a shame that Fergie always is allowed to do such things and goes unpunished.

The FA govern the game. The Government Govern our country. Do we want to live in a world where we cannot question the government? If we are not happy at the way the country is being run, then we should be able to speak up. This is not a dictatorship!, although the FA would like it to be. Fergie has a right to question the FA and its employees!

Believe it or not i can actually see where he's coming from. i noticed myself how slow the ref was and he didnt add on any time for thew stoppage time goal, maybe he didnt want a repeat of what happened at old trafford a couple of weeks back as he was the 4th official on that day. that said, he cant get away with these comments as several managers got fines last year for criticism of the FAs constant blunders

Sir Alex Ferguson has the right to speak his mind and i dont see any reason for the FA to even think to charge him. When you look at the manchester derby game when Craig Bellamy scored the goal on the 90+ minute a minute was added for the celebration so i think the same thing should apply to the man utd vs. sunderland game. The referee has to watch this all back again and see where he went wrong.

Chris Chau (Manchester United fan) says...
Come on let's see if the FA have the courage to admit their fault, for employing the wrong referee who has poor stamina and failed to play the correct amount of additional time. It was ridiculous not to play half or one minute more after anton ferdinand's own goal. I know it would be boring if Man Utd win the Premiership again but I hope the FA is not trying to do something unfair to stop us from winning the 4th consecutive title!
