Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboue has thanked the club's fans for being patient with him last season.

The 26-year-old Ivory Coast international is reportedly being tracked by Fiorentina and Atletico Madrid, but insists he is happy at the club and wants to repay the faith shown in him by manager Arsene Wenger.

Eboue was at his lowest ebb in December last year, when he came on as a substitute against Wigan only to be taken off and ironically cheered by the Gunners fans, but he has bounced back this season - scoring against the Latics in September.

"For me I just want to say thank you to my boss and the fans because they help me a lot," he said.

"I was very disappointed with my performance last season, but now I feel I am doing very well.

"I want to give my best when I play for myself and the fans."

Arsenal take on AZ Alkmaar on Tuesday looking to maintain their 100 per cent record in the UEFA Champions League this term, and Eboue hopes they can go one step further than they did in the 2006 competition - when they lost to Barcelona in the final.

"For me I am very focused because I know this team because I played in the final in 2006," he added.

The Ivorian is set to start in the Group H clash against the Dutch outfit because of injuries to Theo Walcott and Tomas Rosicky.
