John Terry admits he is hoping to take as much as possible from his time working under Carlo Ancelotti.

The Chelsea boss has worked with some of the biggest names in world football and his presence at Stamford Bridge has been welcomed by the Blues' playing staff.

Ancelotti spent eight years at Serie A giants AC Milan prior to taking the Chelsea job over the summer, while he has also taken in spells at Juventus and Parma.

During that time he has forged a reputation as one of Europe's most respected coaches, with numerous domestic and continental titles under his belt.

Chelsea skipper Terry is hoping the Italian tactician can once again work his magic in England, while he is also looking to use Ancelotti's considerable experience to aid his own game.

"I have spoken to my manager a few times about (Paolo) Maldini and what he did, the way he worked, his relationship with the other players," Terry said in the Daily Express.

Highest level

"I am always looking to learn and improve, and when a manager such as Ancelotti comes in, I think I can learn an awful lot from him because he has played and managed at the highest level.

"So while we have had some hard times, with managers coming and going, I can always look at it as a chance to get my learning cap on when a new man comes in. And I can do that by talking to him about the players he has worked with."

Terry has singled out former Milan stalwart Maldini as the man he would most like to emulate, and Ancelotti admits he sees similarities between the talismanic captains at his former and present employers.

"The careers of John and Paolo are very close in comparison," he said.

"Not just in terms of their style of play, but in their professionalism.

"I can see John going on as long as Maldini. He has no physical problems, a lot of passion, and this is the most important thing to continue to 39 or 40 years."
