Aquilani: Settling in
New Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani is desperate to make an impact in the England, according to team-mate Dirk Kuyt.
Italy international Aquilani made his first-team debut for the Reds as a second-half substitute in Wednesday's 2-1 Carling Cup defeat at Arsenal.
The former Roma player's first run-out for Rafa Benitez's side was delayed after his £20million arrival because he was recovering from a summer ankle operation.
However, Aquilani has been making every effort to acclimatise to his new surroundings and Kuyt believes his new club colleague is keen to impress.
"He's tried to be involved, not only in the training sessions but off the pitch too," said Kuyt, who was captain for the defeat at Emirates Stadium.
"He played cards with us before the Arsenal match and tried to pick up the language. He's learning very quickly for an Italian!"
Kuyt added: "Every player who comes to Liverpool is his own personality.
"He has to do it by himself with the rest of us giving him all the support. We will help him on his way.
"We've known Alberto already for a while. This was his first game and I'm very happy for him that he made his debut for Liverpool and hopefully there is a lot more to see from him.
"He is a nice lad, on and off the pitch, and told us he couldn't wait to start. I'm glad for him and us that he can finally play.
"He's desperate to play and wants to show England how good he is."

he looks good, i wish he came to arsenal but 20 million is too much for wenger to spend on one player. him and cesc would have has a great partnership in the middle both attacking and defensively.

What an impressive Debut! For the short amount of time he was on the pitch, he really showed how talented he is, and how he's definitely the man to fill the void left by Xabi.
