Thomas Sorensen has signed a new contract at Stoke City which will keep him at the club until 2011.

The Denmark international extends his current deal at the Britannia Stadium by a further 12 months.

Sorensen joined the Potters from Aston Villa in 2008 and has become an integral part of Tony Pulis' first-team set-up.

The 33-year-old, who has also turned out for Sunderland during an 11-year stint in England, is widely regarded as one of the most reliable shot-stoppers in the Premier League.

Despite approaching the 'veteran' category, Sorensen believes he has plenty more years at the top left in him yet, and hopes they will come at Stoke.

Desire

He told the club's official website: "I feel as though I could go on for at least another four or five years, but when you get to a certain age, so much can happen with injuries and fitness that you cannot look too far ahead."

Sorensen added: "I am really enjoying my time at Stoke. With the new training ground, everything is looking up.

"We have a very good first team, things are going well in the Premier League and I am pleased to be part of that.

"I want to keep playing for as long as I am good enough, fit enough and have the desire.

"It's fantastic that I have so much to look forward to over the coming months with both Stoke and Denmark."
