Spurs keeper Carlo Cudicini is expected to make a good recovery after undergoing surgery on Friday.

The 36-year-old shot-stopper had surgery to his right wrist and pelvis following his motorbike accident on Thursday.

Spurs report the surgery has been successful and the keeper is now expected to be released from hospital soon.

Head of medical services Wayne Diesel told the club's official website: "Both specialists are extremely pleased with the result and expect a good recovery.

Good spirits

"Carlo is in a lot less discomfort than before the operations and is in good spirits.

"The splint on his left wrist has been removed and he now has full use of this wrist.

"He will remain in hospital for a few more days and then be on forearm crutches for about 12 weeks."

Cudicini's agent Federico Pastorello also played down the extent of his injuries and insisted the keeper's career is not at risk.

Worst over

"The worst is now over and we will analyse the time for his recovery after the operation," Pastorello told Sky Sports Italia.

"There was never any risk of permanent damage whatsoever."

Cudicini was rushed to hospital on Thursday after suffering injuries that were initially described as 'possibly life-changing'.

Tottenham quickly released a statement to say he had fractured his wrists and injured his pelvis and he was later transferred to a private hospital where he is under the care of leading specialists.
