Jose Mourinho has slammed a newspaper report claiming he is ready to leave Inter Milan and return to England.

The former Chelsea manager has hit back at claims he is unhappy with the Nerazzurri and is looking to return to an English club where he can build for the future.

The 'Special One' released a statement on Inter's official website saying his comments were taken out of context from an interview 'some time ago'.

"I met with journalist Patrick Barclay some time ago for a book dedicated to Sir Alex Ferguson," he said.

"I did not discuss current themes with this journalist, but spoke exclusively on the role of a coach in the different countries that characterised my professional career.

"I underlined the historical and cultural differences and not personal preferences. I did this solely to highlight how Sir Alex Ferguson's experience at Manchester United is, objectively speaking, an extraordinary exception in our line of work.

"As you can read, I explained that I love Inter, I'm happy at Inter and I am building for Inter. This is my reality and it is one I'll stay in until the end of my contract with this club.

"I am very disappointed that a sincere tribute to Sir Alex Ferguson was used in fragments for another media and above all with a totally different slant."

Italy move

Mourinho took over at Inter in June last year and guided them to a Serie A title last season, however, speculation has continued to surround him regarding a return to the Premier League.

The Portuguese tactician was previously quoted in The Times as saying: "I want to work with a different perspective.

"In Italy, I was coming to the motherland of tactics, the country of catenaccio and defensive football. The objective was to win not only in a third different league, but a place where they say foreign coaches have little success. But the time will come for stability.

"I love Inter and would love to build for the future here. In fact, I am doing it now, because I am not a selfish coach and I'm thinking about the future in terms of youth development and the age structure of my first team.

"But Italy is not the country for this. England is the country - and my football is English football."
