Terry: Calls for fresh blood
John Terry has called for Chelsea to take advantage of their suspended transfer ban and bring in new faces in January.
The Blues have seen the ban, imposed by Fifa for inducing Gael Kakuta to break his contract with Lens, frozen by the Court of Arbitration until a hearing in February.
The West London club could still face a transfer embargo thereafter forcing captain Terry to suggest that the club invest now.
Manager Carlo Ancelotti has already gone on record stating that he will not be active in the winter transfer window but with the likes of Didier Drogba, Michael Essien and Salomon Kalou heading to the African Cup of Nations in January and Frank Lampard, Michael Ballack and Ashley Cole picking up injuries on international duty Ancelotti could be forced to change his mind.
"The suspension is good news as we lose four good players in January anyway," he told The Times.
"I'm sure the club and the manager are looking into that and having good talks with Roman [Abramovich, the owner].
"I wouldn't be surprised if we do go out and buy because we don't know what's going to happen in the summer of the following summer."
Blues fans will be hoping the club renew their interest in Atletico Madrid forward Sergio Aguero or Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery but more realistic targets could be Adam Johnson from Middlesbrough or Jack Rodwell from Everton - although Manchester United are also thought to be trailing the Toffees youngster.
"Looking at it realistically, we're maybe going to be suspended in the summer window and maybe another one after that," Terry added.
"The manager has great experience and he knows what we need."

dont these arsenal and united fans make u laugh there always got something to say about someone else's team when they really shd be looking at their own. arsenal arent you close to bein taken over by a foreign billionaire? lets here what ur sayin when u do and he ploughs millions into ur team im sure u wont be as bitter......... as for united u sell ur two best players last year and replace them with nobody's and yet when chelsea go for the big names u moan is that jus because ur annoyed that utd aren't i think so. i hope we sign several big stars especially villa and aguero and we can cement i rightful status at the top of the premiership and as the best club in london which is probably where these utd fans are from!!!!

Could i just make a point to Robert O Callaghan regarding the comment you made about 'not one of Chelsea's starting 11 came from our academy.' WHERE DO YOU THINK JOHN TERRY CAME FROM??!! He has been at the club since he was 14 and gone on to be probably the best center half in the world! This goes for the majority of Arsenal fans who have commented on this story- Think before you speak!!!

typical, typical, typical!!!! arsenal have started winning a few league games for the 1st time in 5 years!!! and the digs at chelsea and manchester united have started again! the title yet again this year will be between manchester united and ourselves. now you have lost van persie...i cant see eduardo and bendtner doing the damage that he does to teams. as for saying the team we have now has no abiltity, thats just rediculous because we are currently top of the league. lets see what the arsenal fans are saying in may! as for wenger we trust.....you will be trophy less again this year so he should resign. everyones fed up of hearing about arsenals young guns...i agree that technically, the re awesome players but there not going to win you trophies!!!

Well lets start with facts. John Terry has great influence at the Bridge. Neither Roman nor Carlo are fools and the Club is in good hands, with a squad that is the envy of other clubs fans. Being top of the League by a few points and looking down on the chaos below, isn't that where everyone wants to be ? The game is all about money anyone who thinks otherwise is just plain delusional. Our owner has very deep pockets and loves the Club. This is not arrogance speaking, its reality. Arsenal play great football but fail to win anything, ManU fans are worried about the title this year, the scousers are plain broke and in a right old mess. Chelsea will buy someone, I have a sneaky feeling we mIght just get Pato. Our main rivals this year are the gooners, not the manx. Come May we will all know anyway. K.T.B.B.F.H.

No idea what all the arsenal fans are talking about on here why would players not want to join Chelsea? JJ do you think they would like to go to Arsenal instead, in other words a team that hasnt won a trophy in 5 years? Cash is part of the game nowadays, as shown by United and Liverpool splashing it over the past couple of seasons. Chelsea do need to spend money in the januray transfer window to provide cover for Drogba and Essien because im worried where the goals will come from with them out of the team. As for Robert, your statement about not one of Chelsea's first 11 coming through the youth set-up maybe you are forgetting our captain?

this is really making me laugh with all the arsenal and even some of the chelsea comments. i personally would love to see either pato or aguero at chelsea and i love watching jack rodwell play. if chelsea did sign any of these players i would be happy but i would also wouldnt be suprised if chelsea didnt sign anyone in the window. we have proved time and time again we can produce victorys without our best players in the squad. during the african nations i very much dout the arsenal fans have had a look at chelseas fixtures hull, sunderland, birmingham and burnley. now i mean no offence to any of these teams but with a squad like chelsea have i am hugely confident going into these games without mikel, essien, kalou and drogba, i mean even without them world class players out starting lineup could be!!! cech,a.cole,terry,carvalho,ferriera,ballack,lampard,belletti,j.cole,malouda and anelka(remeber golden boot winner last season). now knowone can say that this isen't a team that couldn't beat these four sides.UP THE CHELS!!!

Off course Chelsea should be no. 1 or 2 every season... if not it would be a joke after their spending spree over 5 years. But that being said all clubs would love to have the cash chelsea and city do. But not all clubs can get a nutty rich dude willing to lose money for fun. Chelsea could actually have 2 teams qualifying for european football if their 2nd ranks could play in the PL. The thing that amazes me is MU. Totally different to Chelsea in spending matters. Using average guys like Fletcher, Park, O'shea, Nani, Berbatov +++ and still winning pl's cl's and more. Fergie must without a doubt be the best manager the world has seen. He creates something, a amazing team with just a few stars. Wenger on the other hand has stated that his main job as manager is to ensure the club earns money. Has he gone mental? Earning money is up to the board and finacial advisers. The managers job is to win trophies, and that means spending money. So therefore Wenger builds from nothing, but is forced by himself to sell at the highest point to fullfill his dream and earning money. So looking at Chelsea, Man U and Arsenal there are 3 completely different ways to approach football. I love Arsenal and have done so for 22 years, but i must say the single most admiring achievement in neglish footy is Fergies magic. Winning PL with players like Fletcher, Neville, Park and many more since the early 90's is worthy of a monument alone

Chelsea are the power house of the premier league - step aside Man U, you were a one man band last few seasons and now that Ronaldo has gone we'll see exactly how much depth you have. I was at the Man U match a couple of weeks ago, was gonna run down to Euston Station after to wind up the Man u fans on the way back up north and then it hit me ....There all from Essex! Im getting very bored about Arsenal and this so called " beautiful football " , when was the last time you won anything?!?!? - shutup and jog on boys- jealousy doesnt suit you. CHELSEA ALL THE WAY - THE PRIDE OF LONDON!

it makes me laugh when man utd have a dig at chelsea. number 1 in the champions league u were outplayed by barcelona in the final, whereas they didn't do anything to hurt us last season apart from a great goal by iniesta..ohh i forgot to mention how we got dun over by the ref properly in that game. (not little things like fergie always rants about) Arsenal always go on about money...stop moaning about how u spend so little. if its your policy to buy and nurture youngsters then get on with it, and i still cant see you lot winning the league for a few years yet...u guys dont have any heart. We spent big before but look at how much united spend? Nani 17m, anderson 18m, hargreaves 16m, tosic 8m, berbatov, 25m and this was before selling ronaldo. lets see who are the champions come end of season!!! CHELSEAAAAAAAAAA

You Arsenal fans sound so ridiculous right now... feels like the circus is in town.... Agreed Terry was our last big player to come through the youth system, but I have no idea how Lampard, J Cole, Cech, Ivanovic were all seasoned players when we bought them.... Hec Essien was not seasoned by any means either... Thats not to say we nvr bought any players already up there, Carvalho n Anelka are good examples (although Anelka wasnt exactly on a high at the time). Ballack was a bit too seasoned, but hey, he was free and as long as hes at Chelsea, he'll always have my support. Point Im trying to make is, we may have bought the players from other clubs, but they werent really priced possessions at the time.... the spine of the Chelsea team was BUILT IN CHELSEA.... Buuuuttt, I can understand the animosity of you Arsenal fans, if I was an Arsenal fan and people kept telling me about all the apparant talent in my team, I would be pretty pissed too if i had nothing real to brag about for the supposed talent in my team!

Terry wants to buy????????what a shame 4 chelsea! Even the players are not sure in their qaulity then this means one team is eliminated from the title race. But I do advise spurs and city that the second place is still open. But the title of this season belongs to ARSENAL AND ARSENAL ONLY!!!!!!!!

Sorry Aaron are you implying that Terry is a Chelsea merc? Or in fact that any of them are? There are some expensive names in chelsea's team but that doesn't make them mercs for hire. Chelsea play together as a team and have an unbreakable team spirit, which is not what merc players give you. I don't think Chelsea need to be buying any stars this break, just one or two players to make sure we still have some depth with the African boys away for a month. The team is strong enough to survive this season and next without any new big names

THERE IS A REASON WHY WE HAVE A TRANSFER WINDOW IN FOOTBALL, FOR THOSE HATING THE PURCHASES, HOW MANY CLUBS HAVE SQUADS OF HOMEGROWN PLAYERS ONLY, NONE! Let the club spend because they have and are not economists like others.

Arsenal fans, you make me laugh. where are these great players that wenger has produced.lets look at the arsenal team that last played at wolves, 1 played that has come through the ranks. you go on at what great team you are and what a great young players you produce but you splash the cash just like any other club (arshavin, rosicky, nasri, vermaelan, i can list more if you wish). football is about winning major trophies and having the best players and arsenal have had neither of these since the likes of herny, bergcamp and pires played. arsenal need to last the pace of the whole season and not up to january if you want to win the league, but with the current crop of players it looks like arsenal will have no silverware come the end of the season. if you want to see arsenal win something, watch the arsenal ladies ....much more of a chance!!
