Wolves goalkeeper Matt Murray is waiting on the results of a scan on his injured left knee.

The shot-stopper had been out for almost a year after rupturing his patella tendon while on loan at Hereford, and lasted only 23 minutes on his comeback from injury in a reserve game against Birmingham.

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy is hoping the results are positive, with Murray having had a torrid time with injuries in recent seasons.

"He's been for a scan on his knee but I haven't had the results of that yet," McCarthy told the Express & Star.

"There's no long term fears as far as I'm aware, but we haven't had the results yet. I'm not going to try to second guess it - let's get the results first from the experts.

"I need to speak to the physios and see what's happening, so he won't be playing tonight."

The news on Murray comes as Wolves' third-choice keeper Carl Ikeme, who is currently on loan at Charlton, has been linked with a loan move to Sheffield United with the Blades without Paddy Kenny through long-term suspension and Ian Bennett because of injury.

Murray will miss the reserve game against Tipton Town in the Birmingham Senior Cup on Wednesday night.
