Eduardo is hoping to become a permanent fixture in the Arsenal side as he nears a return to his best form.

Arsene Wenger still does not want to take risks with the Croatian striker following his sickening leg break in February 2008.

Eduardo was regularly rested during the early part of the season and has continued to be in and out of the team despite injuries to Robin van Persie and Nicklas Bendtner.

Andrey Arshavin has been preferred up front but Eduardo feels it is now time for him to be given an extended run in the starting line-up.

The 26-year-old believes the only way he can get back into peak condition is to play a number of matches in succession.

"I can say that I'm very close to my best form. I only need more consistent playing time - like five games in a row," he explained in the News of the World.

Gradual comeback

"Wenger insists on a gradual comeback for both me and Tomas Rosicky but I just want to play every game.

"I miss that feeling in my lungs, when I run up the pitch three times in a row and still feel I can do the same for the fourth time.

"But I can only get there with playing games. It's impossible to reach that level by just training."

Reports have suggested Liverpool are monitoring Eduardo's situation but he insists he is happy at Arsenal after recently agreeing a new long-term deal.

"I am glad that the coach trusts me," he said.

"Arsenal showed what they think of me by offering me a new contract.

"I read about Liverpool's interest in the papers but that is all. It's always flattering when big clubs are interested."
