Arsene Wenger is still mulling over whether to pursue a compensation claim against the Dutch Football Association following Robin van Persie's injury.

The striker is likely to be sidelined for the rest of the season after suffering an ankle ligament problem whilst in action for Holland in November.

Wenger was furious with the Dutch FA's handling of the situation but Fifa has since told Arsenal they are not entitled to financial compensation.

The Gunners manager insists 'something has to be done' and still believes they may be able to press ahead with legal action.

"We have made an enquiry, but I do not have the conclusion of our lawyers yet," said Wenger.

"Something needs to be done, though, and we are prepared to go as far as we can.

"Hopefully we can set a precedent for the future."

Song departure

Meanwhile, Wenger has confirmed that Alex Song will stay with Arsenal until after this Sunday's FA Cup tie with West Ham.

The Cameroon midfielder will then link up with his country for African Cup of Nations duty.

"Alex Song will join up with Cameroon on January 4," said Wenger.

"The rule is the same - we have to free the players two weeks before the competition starts, which is January 10, but Cameroon have chosen to join up later - that is their choice, we did not make a request."
