McCarthy: Disappointed

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy felt Manchester City's 3-0 win at Molineux on Monday flattered the visitors.

City took the spoils courtesy of two goals from Carlos Tevez and an unstoppable free-kick from Javier Garrido.

However, Wolves held their own for much of the contest and felt they deserved to take something from the game.

In the end they paid the price for failing to turn their pressure in goals, but McCarthy was still pleased with the hosts' performance at the final whistle.

Asked whether he felt the scoreline was just, he told Sky Sports: "Not really. Unfortunately when you pick up the newspapers that's what it will say.

"I thought we played very well tonight and had a bit of bad luck."

McCarthy felt Tevez was fortunate to open the scoring after 33 minutes as his scuffed shot cannoned off Christophe Berra before nestling in the back of the net.

Luck

"The deflection for the first goal, it depends what side you are talking from, it's a bit of good luck for them," he said.

"I don't think it is ever going to reach the goal and Marcus (Hahnemann) has got it covered.

"We were down to ten men at that stage as well; I actually thought it was a foul on George (Elokobi). It was disappointing, but we have played well tonight."

McCarthy was also left fuming during the build up to City's second, converted by Garrido.

Wolves felt Craig Bellamy had stayed offside as the Blues launched an attack, but McCarthy refused to discuss the matter afterwards for fear of getting himself into trouble with the Football Association.

He said: "Have a look at it and let them decide for themselves. I'm not going to get involved in it."
