Derby manager Nigel Clough has revealed he is still extremely interested in bringing James Vaughan back to the club.

The Everton striker, who has scored twice in his last two games, had a spell on loan with the Rams in September but his stay at Pride Park was limited to just two appearances after he suffered a knee injury.

The 21-year-old, who is the Premier League's youngest-ever scorer, netted a crucial goal in the league game against Burnley in December and also scored against Carlisle in the FA Cup at the weekend.

Vaughan is fit again after surgery and Clough admits that he would love to bring him back to the Championship club on loan.

"We have spoken to Everton and they will know a bit more about him in a couple of weeks when they have got their targets sorted out," he said.

"He is one we are going to wait for as long as we can.

"I see he scored for Everton again. He's got two in two games now, I hope he doesn't do too well because they might not let him come out on loan."

Meanwhile, Clough also confirmed that Derby have yet to receive bids for any of their own players.

Both Kris Commons and Rob Hulse have been strongly linked with a move away from the club during the January transfer window.

Hulse, Derby's top scorer this term, turned down a move to Middlesbrough at the end of the last transfer window and Clough revealed there has been no official approaches.

He added: "There have been no firm bids for any players yet."
