Mame Biram Diouf bagged a hat-trick for Manchester United's reserves on Thursday to further underline his potential.

The Senegal-born frontman netted three times against Sunderland, in a 4-0 win for the Red Devils, to offer Sir Alex Ferguson a welcome selection headache ahead of Saturday's home date with Hull City.

Diouf has already made two substitute appearances for United since arriving from Molde, and notched his first goal in a 3-0 win over Burnley.

The Red Devils have high hopes for the 22-year-old and reserve coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to rave about his latest outing when reporting back to Ferguson.

United have looked surprisingly stale up front over recent weeks and a change in personnel could be just the tonic.

Diouf, with his tireless running and keen eye for goal, would certainly freshen things up and he will fancy his chances of getting another look-in against the Tigers.

Another positive to come out of the midweek victory over the Black Cats was a 15-minute run-out from Federico Macheda as he steps up his return from injury.
