Bolton manager Owen Coyle remains hopeful that Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere will move to the Reebok Stadium on loan.

Skysports.com revealed on Tuesday that Bolton were set to win the race for the talented teenager, with Gunners boss Arsene Wenger prepared to allow his temporary exit.

Discussions have been taking place and Coyle is optimistic that further talks on Thursday could complete a deal.

The Bolton boss told Sky Sports News: "Jack Wilshere is a name that has been mentioned among others.

"He is a talented, young player, somebody I think has got the makings of being a top player.

"There has been dialogue, nothing concrete as yet. But he is someone we are interested in bringing to the football club.

"So are a host of other clubs because of the quality he has. We will see what today brings."

He added: "Nothing is set in stone, but we will look to try and take it on."

Passionate

Meanwhile, Coyle, who was greeted with cries of 'Judas' on Tuesday when his side defeated Burnley, the club he left earlier in January, believes the baiting of top coaches is a 'social problem'.

He said: "Managers get stick in football, it is commonplace I can assure you of that. Nothing surprises you, it is such a passionate game.

"But it is more than football, it is a social problem now that you can give out stick and get away with it."

Coyle added: "As footballers, coaches, managers, we all know what is involved in the job. We are all thick-skinned and have broad shoulders to take it on board.

"I can't say it is enjoyable. But we know it is the nature of the beast."
