Ryan Giggs insists Manchester United must be wary of an Arsenal side on Sunday who have discovered consistency.

The Gunners were tipped by some at the start of the season to slip out of the top four, with the likes of Manchester City and Tottenham waiting in the wings.

Instead, Arsene Wenger's side have re-established themselves as realistic title contenders, alongside Chelsea and United.

They play host to the Red Devils in a crucial contest at Emirates Stadium this weekend, with plenty riding on a fixture which always captures the imagination.

Both sides have players in red-hot form at the moment, and will be looking to the likes of Wayne Rooney and Cesc Fabregas to shine once more, but veteran midfielder Giggs insists United will not be focusing their attention on stopping individuals.

Experience

"Arsenal are a young team," he said.

"But when you look someone like Fabregas, he may only be 22 but he has a lot of experience.

"As a team, they are gaining experience all the time, so I doubt they will pinpoint one player, in the same way we won't do for them.

"You can admire certain individuals but there are all good players. That is why they play for Arsenal.

"It is better to try and stop the team as a whole because these games tend to be decided by a little bit of brilliance from one individual."

Big game

Relations between United and Arsenal have soured somewhat over the years, after a number of heated exchanges in the heat of battle, but Giggs insists the rivalry helps to add to the sense of occasion whenever they go head-to-head.

"There is a big rivalry between the two clubs," said the Welshman.

"Over the last 20 years we have been the two top teams and there has always been this rivalry between the managers, the fans and the players.

"Let's be honest, you are talking about two teams that have had so much quality, both individually and as a team. Between us we have won so much.

"Arsenal against United is always a big game. This is bigger than most."
