Middlesbrough have accepted Manchester City's bid for Adam Johnson, skysports.com understands.

Boro have been considering City's bid since the weekend, after the winger made it know to the Teesside club that he wanted to move to Eastlands.

Now Boro have accepted the offer - which was the second improved bid from City - but the paperwork is not yet complete between the two clubs.

Despite some work having to be done behind the scenes, Boro have allowed Johnson to travel to the North West.

Johnson, 22, will now look to complete a medical and agree personal terms before the 5pm deadline, but it now looks as if Johnson will be the latest big-name departure from Boro.

Boro look to have allowed Johnson to leave in order to finance other deals with permanent moves for Lee Miller and Scott McDonald both in the pipeline.
