Wolves goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann is confident that he will stay at Molineux beyond this season.

The USA international has impressed between the sticks after joining last season's Championship winners on a 12-month deal during the summer.

However, with the season drawing to a close, the 37-year-old has yet to put pen-to-paper on a new deal, but he has told skysports.com that he hopes to get his future sorted soon.

"I would love to be here next season. I want to stay and the club are hoping to keep me here, so hopefully everything will be done soon," he said.

"I have spoke to the manager on a number of occasions about staying here and we are both singing from the same hymn sheet, so I can't see there being too much of a problem when it comes to thrashing out a new deal."

The Midlands outfit extended the gap between themselves and the relegation zone with a crucial 2-1 over rivals Burnley and Hahnemann believes they can finish strongly this season.

"It wasn't the greatest of games for the neutral, but they rarely are when there is so much at stake," added Hahnemann.

"The outcome was the most important thing and it gives us a huge lift going into the final furlongs of the season."
