Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby says he is taking greater care with his health after an injury-ravaged season.

Diaby struggled to maintain his fitness throughout the Gunners campaign last season, with the French international suffering knee ligament damage and calf problems that restricted his involvement.

But the 24-year-old says he has become more rigorous in his approach to dealing with injuries in an attempt to maintain a clean bill of health.

The former Auxerre star is preparing for the World Cup finals in South Africa with Raymond Domenech's side and hopes he can play a significant part in Les Bleus' Group A campaign.

France kick off their attempts to win the trophy on 11th June against Uruguay in Cape Town and the midfielder told L'Equipe he wants to put the problems behind him that have hindered his development.

"Indeed, injuries have slowed down my evolution," said Diaby.

"But I have to hold on and sustain my efforts, so today I am in the French team group to prepare for the World Cup.

"I tried to find the reason to my injuries, why it happened so often. Now I take care about anything: treatments, rest, physical work, warm-ups.

"I am much more rigorous, less lax about preparation."
