Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger claims there is no substance to continued reports linking Cesc Fabregas with Barcelona.

The Gunners skipper has become embroiled in a long-running transfer saga which has dragged on all summer, and shows no sign of dying down.

Barca have made it clear that they want to return Fabregas to his Catalan roots, and the Spanish schemer is reportedly keen to make such a move.

However, Arsenal are reluctant to part with their talismanic captain and have stubbornly refused to discuss a deal.

Important

That remains their stance at present, with Wenger confident Fabregas will still be at his disposal for the 2010/11 campaign.

"There are still noises from Barcelona, but that is all it is," said the Frenchman, after hearing the Primera Liga champions again express their annoyance at the stalemate on Tuesday.

"In our job you don't worry about things you cannot control.

"We are very happy with Cesc at the club. He is a very important player and is our captain. We have worked very hard with him."
