Milner: No new bid
Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill insists James Milner still has a future at the club if his move to Manchester City fails to materialise.
Milner is believed to be keen on a move to big-spending City after they had a bid for his services rejected at the start of the summer.
O'Neill has admitted he is willing to let the England midfielder move on for the right price, but the two clubs are thought to be some way apart in their valuations of the 24-year-old.
Villa chief O'Neill insists there has been no progress in the transfer saga and he would happily keep Milner if the two sides fail to strike a deal.
"It is no further forward since I spoke to you a few days ago," said O'Neill
"James is with us here [in Portugal] so I haven't heard anything.
"It is the owner and chief executive who are dealing with it."
Asked if he thought City would match Villa's valuation of the former Newcastle and Leeds man, O'Neill said: "I really don't know.
"The fact is we had a situation with Gareth Barry a couple of seasons ago. The move to Liverpool didn't materialise.
"We put a valuation on him, it was't met and Gareth came back to play some of the best football of his career and James is certainly in the same mould."
