Aurelio: Back at Anfield
It feels like I am signing for the first time - everything has changed so it is like a new beginning for me with new confidence and a new boss
. Fabio Aurelio on his return to Liverpool
Quotes of the week
Liverpool have confirmed they have re-signed Fabio Aurelio on a two-year deal.
As exclusively revealed by skysports.comearlier on Saturday, Liverpool have decided to bring Aurelio back to Anfield just two months after he left the club.
The Brazilian full-back left Liverpool at the end of May following the expiration of his contract.
It was believed Aurelio rejected the offer of a pay-as-you-play deal to stay at Anfield after an injury-ravaged campaign last season.
However, with new Reds boss Roy Hodgson yet to secure a replacement for Aurelio he has decided to bring the 30-year-old back to the club after being impressed by his fitness.
"I asked the club to find out whether Fabio had found a new club," Hodgson told the club's official website.
"When we ascertained that he hadn't, we invited him back to Melwood so both myself and my staff, and the medical team could properly assess the player.
"We were both very impressed and I am delighted we were able to re-sign Fabio."
Aurelio has spoken of his delight at rejoining the club and he hopes he can play his part under the new regime at Anfield
"Hopefully I can do well this season.
"My aim is to help the team do better than last season. Everything is going really well, so I think we can progress a lot.
"We have made some good additions to the team and we can be very confident."

Terrible TERRIBLE decision he has scored like one flukey free kick his whole time an he is awful at defendin if he is even fit enough to play. Should have bought Royston Drenthe someone young who is only gettin better. Not someone who should have retired last season.

Roy Hodgson is a breath of fresh air at Anfield, while we as supporters want the best players its nice to see Him signing British players who know what it means to Scousers to beat the likes of Man U, Foreign players in My opinion dont have the same feelings as British players. They dont have that sense of history. realisticaly the best we can hope for is a top four finish, but that will be a step in the right direction. Well done Roy. Bob (was never a Rafa fan)

very glad to see aurelio back at liverpool, i felt he didnt do much wrong during his time under benitez, he just had bad luck with his injuries, and rafa opted for insua over aurelio even when he was fit. i just hope hodgson can buy another left back just as a back up in case of any more injuries. welcome back fabio :)

i think this is a bit desperate bringing back dead wood. he wasnt that gud when he did play for us and he didnt really score many goals considering he has quite a gud left peg expecially from set pieces. i would use him as cover an still buy a better left back, maybe bridge would be available now city have bought every player available, and mascherano please get out of our club, we made you the player you are today otherwise u would be rotting in west hams reserves. we do not want disloyal players so bye bye. oh and all u city and chelsea fans torres is going nowere.

Good news for us....as others have said we just need a backup LB. One more winger and two strikers as replacements for Nando Torres. Let him go if he has doubts about the club. Chelsea can have him for the right money. Give some of our youth and reserve players a chance Roy this season. They will play with their hearts especially the local lads. Good luck to the Reds for the coming season.

This season is the first for ages I havent said "were going to come close to winning the prem" the only time I have been proven close in that statement was two seasons ago. Rafa was a great manager but even by letting Auralio leave he proved how fed up he had become at the club. Roy Hodgson is straight talking and very experienced and maybe unlike "Mr Technical" RB he will give us some pride back. Fabio is a awesome left footed player and suffered a "freak" injury great management RH. I dont see why we havent let some of the kids leave Ngog etc but at least they will push the "stars" to keep there places now they have been given a chance. Am actually looking forward to this season knowing it would be unbelievable to contemplate us winning anything but knowing we have some pride and passion back!! LFC YNWA

Good news, apparently Insua is in the squad for our friendly match today which means he hasn''t been sold (yet) which I think is a good thing.

very good news. roy has the ability to see what others can''t, and must reaise that aurelio has some promise. i think that mascherano is being stupid demanding a move , without seeing what roys plans are. this could be a very good season for the reds, with a manager who is a great thinker and tactitian. he will expect his players to do as they are told, but will aslo change his formations to suit each game.

Always rated Aurelio - He''s consistent in what he does and has a touch of class, wears his heart on his sleeve and always gives everything he can. Well done Roy.

Good piece of business!!! No need to spend money on any average players, just go for a Defour or Luis Suarez and that will be it. If Masch goes, then get a Parker. I would also love to see Salcido join, he is pure class imo. Warnock wouldnt be bad either!!

A great piece of business, I was amazed when Fabio was allowed to leave in the first place. Fitness permitting I think he''ll have a great season! I''m very impressed by the manner in which Roy Hodgson has got to gips with the problems facing the club & of course his manner of working. Good luck for the forthcoming season, years ago when I lived in the UK trips to watch N/cle play Liverpool were much looked forward to!!

Another very sharp bit of business by Roy. Roy realises if we sell Masch for £20-£25 mil he will be lucky to see £10-£12 mil of that and he has now ensured none of that will now need to be spent on a full back. He can concentrate on using that money on a decent striker as we have more than enough cover in midfield now with Stevie, Lucas, Aqua, Spearing, Shelvey and out wide Kuyt, Cole, Babel, Jovanavic. Roy has his head well and truly screwed on. Looking forward to a nice progressive season with a top 4 finish in sights YNWA
