Moyes: Linked with Villa
Sky Bet have slashed the odds on Everton manager David Moyes taking charge at Aston Villa.
Moyes, whose Everton side lost to Villa at the weekend, is now the 11/4 favourite with Sky Bet to be named as Martin O'Neill's permanent replacement.
The Toffees boss, who fits owner Randy Lerner's criteria for the next Villa Park chief, is in from 40/1 following huge support on Monday.
Moyes has been at the Goodison Park helm since 2002 but punters now believe he could be on his way to the Midlands.
Caretaker Villa manager Kevin MacDonald is 3/1 second-favourite, with former England boss Sven Goran Eriksson out to 9/2 (from 3/1).
O'Neill walked away from the Villa job three weeks ago and the club are now stepping up the search for his successor.
Villa announced on Sunday that they were looking for somebody with experience of managing in the Premier League, effectively ruling out MacDonald and several other potential candidates including USA coach Bob Bradley.

''Jumping from the pan into the fire'' Why leave Everton for Villa????, I think DM has got himself a good team at Everton, yes they lost to Villa but they always start the season slow. Personally I feel Everton have the brighter future of the two clubs.

Why would Moyes want to go to a club of the same level? He is much better than that and deserves a crack at one of the big teams. Unless there is something rumbling behind the scenes... possible sales of star players perhaps!! Same reason O''Neill crapped on Villa maybe?

Have to agree with Chris... Why would a manager who was, I think, just about the first to rule himself out of the running for the job suddenly change his mind nearly 3 weeks on? Whether it makes sense to move between these two clubs is a debate for another time, but I''d be surprised if he did. The compensation package would be prohibitive to Mr Lerner, who I''m sure will appoint a free agent if at all possible. Looking around with the benefit of the club''s statement detailing the criteria for the search, there''s a limited field... Curbishley, Eriksson, (Heaven help us if either of these next two happens) Pardew and Southgate seem to be the only Premiership-experienced managers on the market just now. Thankfully, I suspect Southgate is happy punditing for tv....

Andy Allen I had to comment because of your awful comments on NRC. Aston Villa are not too good for NRC he is there to do a job - and he does it. He consistantly puts pressure on the opposition and stops them playing football, whilst at the same time allowing his team mates to have more freedom. We know he isnt the best passer of the ball and he is never going to dazzle any body with his skills. Villa always play well when he is in the side, our 3-1 away win at Liverpool last season a prime example as he was outstanding. I cannot help but think that silly fickle villa fans, such as yourself, that think NRC is a bad player do not know a thing about football because all teams need the presence he brings. And no Kev Mac does not ''persist'' with him because he only played against everton because ireland pulled up in the warm-up. Ireland and Petrov will not work as well as a midfield pair with the game at St James'' showing that as our midfield wasn''t even there! It is no surprise at all that villa got the 3 points on Sunday with NRC in the side, and who cares if we were under pressure, we defended brilliantly when we needed the 3 points to regain our confidence from the past week

Moyes won''t leave ,he has just secured the clubs long term future such as Rodwell,Coleman and arteta and he said a few weeks ago he dosent want to go and he is one of the prems best managers and it wouldn''t make sense if he leaves but he won''t leave

Moyes would be superb, if we can get him. I dont know why he would leave Everton, a club where he has built everything and assebled a squad that is better than ours at this moment in time. Kevin McDonald has done well, Andy Allen, NRC isn''t the best player, but he did well yday, covering for Petrov who isn;t up to it!!

I''m struggling to see why David Moyes would take the Villa job. O''Neil has clearly been frustrated with their inability to hold onto their best players, and I really don''t see how Villa can progress to "the next level", especially with additional pressure from both City and Spurs looking set to increase in the future. He may be tempted by a fresh challenge, but its well known Sir Alex Ferguson is a keen admirer and he may be in the frame for a much larger position when (or if!) Ferguson finally retires.

While this would be a superb appointment, I think we need to remember that Moyes ruled himself out of the running less than a month ago. He is undoubtedly a top manager and I am sure Everton would be loath to lose him, but I''m not sure I believe this. David Moyes has done great things with Everton and turned them into a great side, so I hope we can bring him in, but I would be careful of getting my hopes up.

Please come up with something with a bit more substance than just on bookies slashing odds lmao this is a waste of a web page as Moyesiah is not going nowhere he even stated it 19 days ago why would he leave to villa?? To me thats a step back than a step forward in his career

Moyes won''t leave Everton anytime soon, he''s part of the club. We may one day lose him to Man U, but to Villa? No chance!

I really hope this turns out to be true, a class manager, just what we need, works well with a smaller team, i think Villa just pip Everton in respect of stature and team quality, so Moyes will do well for us......MOYSEY FOR VILLA C''MON !!!!

Would be the best man for the job! But sadly it''s surely never gonna happen. As Chris said above he''s spent years getting the team just how he wants it and sorted keeping hold of a number of key players. Why would he walk from that? I have to admit, I hope he does join though! Sorry Everton fans, This sort of stuff sucks, I do understand that after losing Barry, Milner and O''neill in the space of a year! We could really do with some good news!!!

I can assure you David Moyes will not be leaving Everton in the near future. He loves the club, he loves the fans and has a better playing squad at Everton than at Villa in which to achieve. Sorry Villa fans but you have got no chance!

Moyes for Villa! I thought it was August not April. Can''t see any reason for him to go. He won''t have loads of cash as that''s why O''Neill left?

On the 11th August DM said he would not leave Everton, He has secured the services of Arteta, Rodwell and now has the squad he has been waiting for. I dont see why he would leave to go to anyone at the moment. He has the full support of the Board and the players. It does not make sense to me

I''d take Moysey tomorrow. MCDonald not up to job, you only have to look at 90 mintes of Everton pressure and why he persists with NRC god only knows. Hes the worse signing since De La Cruz
