Striker still to agree new deal at Everton

Skysports.com understands a number of clubs at home and abroad are monitoring Victor Anichebe's situation at Everton. Anichebe is entering the final six months of his current contract and as yet no deal has been agreed. Everton are keen to tie down the 22-year-old to a new long-term deal, but could find themselves in a similar position to when they lost Dan Gosling on a free transfer last summer. Anichebe, who has come through the ranks at Goodison Park, could leave for nothing at the end of the season if a new deal cannot be agreed.

Talks ongoing

The news has alerted a number of British and foreign sides to Anichebe's possible availability. Everton would be due a sizeable compensation fee if Anichebe moved to another English side, but if he was to go abroad he would be available for a cut-price fee. A host of foreign sides are now thought to be weighing up a move for the Nigeria international knowing they could land him for a bargain price. Talks with Everton are ongoing and the club are keen to avoid losing the powerful forward for nothing next summer.
