Chelsea will again be without midfielder Frank Lampard for their London derby with Tottenham on Sunday.

It had been thought the England international could make his return following a lengthy absence after returning to training.

Lampard has been sidelined for three months following hernia surgery and a groin injury.

After Chelsea's midweek defeat to Marseille, Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti confirmed Lampard's successful return to training and hinted he could feature against Spurs.

However, after assessing Lampard's progress on Friday, Ancelotti has now confirmed that the 32-year-old will be missing at White Hart Lane.

Not fit

"He is not fit again," explained Ancelotti. "He is out.

"I can say this with a smile because he trained well but we think it will be a very tough game against Spurs.

"We didn't have a chance to test him in a game. We have to arrange a game for him, maybe on Thursday, after that he can be available.

"He trained well, he doesn't have a problem to train, but this is a tough game. So he will play a friendly and be ready for the Man Utd game."
