Bentley: Birmingham bow
David Bentley is looking for further improvements to his game after making his Birmingham City debut in the 1-1 draw with Aston Villa.
The former England midfielder has joined the Blues for the rest of the season and he turned out an impressive performance in front of the St Andrews faithful.
Bentley not only lasted the duration of Sunday's derby-day encounter, but also collected the man of the match award for an energising display on Birmingham's right flank.
And the 26-year-old confirmed he is enjoying kick-starting his career under Alex McLeish after being on the fringes at Spurs.
He told Sky Sports: "We've some good footballers here and some great lads they made me feel welcome and I've really enjoyed the two days I've had here so far.
"We're a strong team and we've got fully committed lads and we've got footballers who can play."
Bentley admitted his Birmingham baptism was demanding and the former Blackburn and Arsenal winger hopes to build from his first appearance in City colours.
He added: "I love playing football but it was harder than usual. I was disappointed with myself with some of the quality. I showed the level of fitness and hopefully the quality will come.
"I think you take more of a knock if you're out there and you're doing bad. At times it's been difficult but I'm looking to enjoy my time at Birmingham and hopefully I'll show some quality and I'll enjoy myself."
Bentley felt Birmingham had done enough to win Sunday's game with Villa but admitted the camp were satisfied with a draw.
"We're happy with a draw but we would have been happier with a win," he concluded.
