Chelsea are on the verge of finalising a deal for David Luiz after Benfica reportedly accepted an offer.
The Portuguese club's Administrative Council met late on Monday and accepted one of Chelsea's proposals.
They have opted to take €25million (£21.5million) plus one of Chelsea's young players valued at €5million, taking the overall deal to €30million.
It is reported that Benfica will take one of Slobodan Rajkovic, Nemanja Matic, Patrick van Aanholt or Fabio Borini.
A breakdown of the deal will see Benfica take €18.75million, while their investment fund Benfica Stars will recoup €6.25million.
Luiz's former clubs Vitoria Bahia (€560,000) and Sao Paulo (€187,000) will also get smaller pay-outs from their own clauses.
It is reported that Luiz will fly to London on Tuesday for his medical and Chelsea have already applied for his work-permit.
David luiz would be a great signing. But i think the midfield is also of paramount important.Adetoro adedayo,Lagos,Nigeria

Luiz should be a great buy if it comes off (becoming a bit cynical, until its official I wont believe it) However something is wrong here. Chelsea are buying one player in Luiz but letting Kakuta, Van Aanholt off on loan to Leicester and Fulham, and potentially another youth player (Possibly Bruma) go to Benfica as part of this deal. Our squad is threadbare already! No Logic in that whatsoever.

we need a young stricker like borini .y u want let them dont sell any 1
Posted 15:32 25th January 2011
nice deal even though d asking price is just 2 outragous but we mustn't let go of van aanolt, bruma and matic because they ve got future at chelsea. I will suggest we give them either fereirra or borini.

bravo 4 chelsea of buying luiz.but what are they doing about our forwarders. I think fernando llorente wil be a good purchase
Posted 15:08 25th January 2011
Van Aanholt will not be going as part of this deal i guarantee you. hes heading out on loan to Leicester City for the remainder of the season so he can get some first team action under his belt. take ya pick outta the others, but no chance van aanholt will go.

Chelsea need saurez too.. Roman Abrahimvic should invest more if he want chelsea to be European champion

Solomon Asante No way Ashley cole will never leave Chelsea
Posted 14:25 25th January 2011
I guess all we need now is another 20 goal per season striker. WithAguero going to real, who else is out there? Maybe we should have got Bent or Dzeko!

It is a gud deal but they shud take Raj
Posted 13:29 25th January 2011
we need and can't wait to see you boy so that you can pair John Terry .
Posted 13:16 25th January 2011
Do not let Patrick Van Aaholt leave, unless on the loan. This kid is quality and the future replacement for Ashley Cole. Fair enough Luiz will be a good signing, but if we let go of Patrick, we would not have got a fair deal.
Posted 12:23 25th January 2011
I say give them Fabio Borini he's got no future at Chelsea I am afraid. Don't let Van Aanholt go he's Cole's back up and he's gonna be the next cole.
Posted 11:54 25th January 2011
come on luiz we need u
Posted 11:48 25th January 2011
Chelsea should not use any young player, instead they should use Ferreire, bcos the young players developing seriously, and it's not easy to buy a good young player without huge amount of money.
Posted 11:08 25th January 2011
