Colombian looking to prove himself in SPL

Aberdeen look set to capture Manchester City goalkeeper David Gonzalez on a six month loan deal. With City keen to see their 28-year-old charge tested in regular action, the Dons emerged as a candidate for the experienced stopper with Rochdale and Yeovil initially believed to be in pole position. The move, set to be completed imminently, could extend to a season-long switch but has been pegged back to an initial six months out of respect for Aberdeen's first choice keeper Jamie Langfield. Langfield was hospitalised suffering from a seizure but looks set to make a return to light training as the SPL side return ahead of pre-season. Aberdeen boss Craig Brown insists that taking Gonzalez to Pittodrie for a reduced period in the interim is the fairest conclusion. He told the Daily Record: "Jamie's still under medical supervision but, out of respect for his condition, we're taking David for six months to begin with. "The plan is for Jamie to start training in September and play in October."
