BUTT RUBBISHES EXIT TALK

MANCHESTER UNITED midfielder Nicky Butt has labelled reports that he is set to leave Old Trafford "a loan of rubbish", following a summer of speculation linking him with a number of clubs.

The England international, 25, has been the subject of speculation linking him to Sunderland, Sporting Lisbon and Everton, but he insists that it is purely that.

"As far as I know it's speculation," Butt said, following manager Sir Alex Ferguson's statement last week that he is staying at Old Trafford.

"I had a bit of speculation last year as well," he added, referring to the reports claiming that he and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer were to be makeweights in a deal to take Sol Campbell to United.

"The manager has come out and said things in the papers. He never spoke to me about it so I assume it's a load of rubbish."
