MANCHESTER UNITED starlet Danny Webber's loan spell at Watford has been cut short by injury.

The 20-year-old, who is in his second spell on loan at Vicarage Road, has sustained a shoulder injury and will return to Old Trafford for treatment on the problem.

Webber sustained a dislocated shoulder in Saturday's 1-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday and is expected to be missing for six weeks by which time his loan deal will have expired.

Hornets boss Ray Lewington would like to see Webber extend his loan spell, but is resigned to the fact that the player will return to United.

"Danny's spell with us is finished now," said Lewington. "His loan period is almost over and he will come in and say goodbye to us on Monday.

"He has been magnificent for us and I will be sorry to see him go. He will be welcome back here any day. He is a nice lad as well as a top-quality professional.

"His injury will keep him out for a minimum of six weeks and United would say no to letting us have him on a long-term loan."
