Ricketts handed Welsh call

Swansea City's Sam Ricketts is the shock name in John Toshack's first Welsh squad, which will face Hungary next month.

The former Telford United stopper only moved to The Vetch Field in the summer, but he obviously impressed new boss Toshack.

Other new names are defender Danny Collins, Gavin Williams and David Partridge.

Both Collins and Williams have moved from League Two to The Championship in recent months, the defender moving from Chester to Sunderland and Williams opting to join West Ham after leaving Yeovil.

Partridge is a central defender from Motherwell, who has never been involved at senior level.

Toshack is without the injured Mark Delaney and he has not named veteran goalkeeper Paul Jones.

Newcastle's Craig Bellamy has been included after a week of turmoil at club level.

The full squad to play Hungary at The Millennium Stadium on February 9:
Coyne (Burnley), Crossley (Fulham), Collins (Sunderland), Edwards (Wolves), Gabbidon (Cardiff), Page (Cardiff), Partridge (Motherwell), Ricketts (Swansea), Roberts (Tranmere), Weston (Cardiff), Davies (Tottenham), Fletcher (West Ham), Giggs (Man Utd), Koumas (West Brom), Robinson (Sunderland), Savage (Blackburn), Williams (West Ham), Bellamy (Newcastle), Earnshaw (West Brom), Hartson (Celtic).
