Fergie: No complaints

Sir Alex Ferguson had no complaints after Manchester United were dumped out of the Carling Cup by Coventry.

Although the United boss made 11 changes to his side, he was expecting his up and coming stars to see off The Sky Blues' challenge.

However, goals either side of half-time from Michael Mifsud secured a memorable success for Iain Dowie's men.

When asked whether Ferguson was surprised by Coventry's display, he told Sky Sports: "Absolutely.

"We couldn't ever have believed that performance tonight.

"We've been trumping the youngsters for over a year now, so it's a bit disappointing.

"They didn't enjoy the battle in the first half. They were second to every ball.

"Full marks to Coventry. That's what you expect. They won every ball.

"It was a very, very efficient performance and they deserved to win."

Dowie was delighted with his side's response following their weekend disappointment at Ipswich.

The Sky Blues boss thought the side defended well and were a real threat on the attack.

"It's a very tough place to come. I thought our defensive shape was a different class," said Dowie.

"I thought we posed a lot of attacking threat as we went with three forwards.

"We're delighted with the way we played. They gave a display the fans can be very proud of."
