Ferdinand: Glory hunter

Rio Ferdinand insists that helping Manchester United pick up silverware is more important than personal recognition.

The centre-half has enjoyed another dominant season at the heart of the Red Devils defence, but admits that he would be devastated to end the season empty-handed.

United continue to chase glory at home and abroad, with the next few weeks set to make-or-break their season.

The Premier League title could be wrapped up with victory over Wigan on Sunday, live on Sky Sports 1, before Sir Alex Ferguson's men get set for a UEFA Champions League final date with Chelsea on 21st May.

Ferdinand knows that great teams are judged on their trophy haul at the end of a season, not individual plaudits, and will be doing all he can to ensure that United get their hands on a double.

Consistency

"I always strive for consistency and I think that, over the past few seasons, I've managed to achieve that to a good level," the England international said in The Daily Telegraph.

"But at the end of the day, it's about medals and winning things.

"If I'm performing well and the team is winning, then I'm happy. But if we're not winning then it doesn't matter how well I'm playing.

"Maybe in the summer I'll look back on the season and be able to say 'yeah, I've been pleased with my form'. Until then, the focus is on winning trophies."
