Scholes: Eyes United extension
I have one year left on my contract and hopefully I'll get another one.
Scholes on United contract
Quotes of the week
Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes sees himself retiring from football in two years' time.
The 33-year-old former England international, who has spent the whole of his career at Old Trafford, is currently in the final year of his Red Devils contract.
Scholes hopes to secure a contract extension from Sir Alex Ferguson, but says that all depends on how he is feeling and whether his form is up to scratch.
"How long will I go on? I'd think two years at the most," said Scholes.
"I have one year left on my contract and hopefully I'll get another one but I suppose it all depends on how you're feeling and how you're playing.
"At the moment I just think two years would be about right."
While many dream of becoming a professional footballer and the lifestyle that comes with being in the public eye, Scholes is looking forward to shying away from the media.
He added: "I can't say that I can't wait to finish but I am looking forward to finishing with everything that goes with it.
"I suppose people are just very invasive and are always wanting to know what you're going to do.
"The only thing I will definitely miss is the football, not the general life of a footballer."
