Ronaldo: Appreciates United
Sir Alex Ferguson believes Cristiano Ronaldo could stay at Manchester United for longer than just one more season.
Ronaldo pledged his immediate future to the champions earlier this week following a summer of speculation regarding a move to Real Madrid.
The winger did again acknowledge his admiration for Real, and there have been rumours he will join the Spanish giants next summer.
However, after persuading Ronaldo to stay at Old Trafford this term, Ferguson feels the Portugal international could be at the club for several more years.
Citing Rio Ferdinand as an example, Ferguson believes 23-year-old Ronaldo will appreciate being a United player as he matures.
"As he gets older I think he will appreciate being here more and more," said Ferguson.
"The longer people stay at this club you tend to not want to leave. Rio Ferdinand is an obvious example of that.
"But really I'm just pleased we have managed to put all this Real Madrid stuff to bed. They know what they are dealing with now."
