Wayne Rooney is delighted to be back among the goals as Premier League champions Manchester United continue to recover from their sluggish start to the season.

Rooney's stunning goal at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday was his third in as many games and sealed a 2-0 win which lifted United into the top six - for 24 hours at least.

"I just want to help the team really but of course, I am pleased to be back scoring goals," said Rooney, who had failed to score in his first six games of the season for United.

"I tend to score in spurts. I have been like that throughout my career. Hopefully I can go on like that."

Health

The England international insists he is fully fit following an ankle problem and believes United are also in rude health going into the international break.

He added: "This was a really good result for us and I think we have repaired the damage now.

"That is four of our hardest games of the season out of the way and we are still in a decent position in the league.

"Hopefully we can go on a good run now and start climbing the table."
