Belgian starlet Axel Witsel has admitted he would relish the chance to move to England after it emerged Manchester United were tracking his progress.

The Standard Liege midfielder has shone in recent months for the Belgian side who have produced some outstanding performances in Europe this season.

After narrowly losing to Liverpool in the UEFA Champions Legaue, they have since gone on to knock Everton out of the Uefa Cup and have also beaten Sevilla.

Witsel has previously been linked to the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Middlesbrough, but now Sir Alex Ferguson's scouts are believed to have highlighted his potential to the United chief.

Witsel admits he is excited by the reports of United's interest.

"I found out recently about United's interest but I don't know much," he told The Sun.

Future

"As for my future we will have a meeting with the board at the end of the season.

"I'll take my decision with the help of my father and my agent.

"I love the English, the Spanish and the French leagues. It will all depend on the offers.

"Arsenal, Feyenoord and Real wanted to sign me when I took part in the European Under-17s Championships in 2006. But I wanted to stay close to my family."
